About Kody

I have been tutoring for well over a decade now, first as a volunteer while I was in college, and since then as a private tutor in Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and now here in the St. Louis area. And of course I'm always available online.

All of my tutoring sessions are catered to your student's personal needs and learning style. I work hard to find new ways to help students learn concepts that they struggle with, and I work alongside students in every stage of the writing process, from initial brainstorming to final editing.

I studied English literature and creative writing as well as philosophy for my B.A. from Auburn University, and I continued my education in the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College.

Literature and writing are my passions, and I am constantly learning new things to enrich my life and help my students. As a tutor I have worked with all grade levels, from elementary school through grad school, as well as nursing and medical school students.

Outside of tutoring, I have worked as a newspaper copyeditor, a magazine editor, and a freelance copywriter for various businesses from hotels and tourism to architectural firms. Additionally, I work as a scuba diving instructor, which is unrelated to writing, but has taught me a lot about teaching generally.
