About Amy

I have a Masters Level Degree in English and Composition with experience teaching on the college level. I can assist with grammar, composition, and literature analysis.

Bachelor of English from Auburn University at Montgomery, 2005

Master of Liberal Arts in English, Auburn University at Montgomery, 2019

My most favorite thing about teaching is when I get to observe a student understanding a new skill for the first time. Writing plays such an important part in life, and I love the feeling I get when I help a student master a new skill in this area.

Adjunct Professor in the Composition Department, Auburn University at Montgomery

When I begin working with a student, I will first assess their skill level in relation to the grade they are in.  After the level is assessed, I will determine if remedial lessons are needed or if skills can be developed to advance the student's skill to advance them to a higher grade level than currently enrolled in.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should remember that a teacher's main focus should be advancing the learning of a student.  If a student is not learning something new, the teacher is not performing his or her job effectively.  It is a student's right to learn and the student should not be intimidated to approach a teacher when the learning process is not advancing.
