About Nicole

I have a Master's in Education and an elementary teaching certification from Stanford University. I currently teach 2nd grade at a school in Oakland. I love my job, and I'm interested in literacy tutoring for elementary students on the side. My approach is student-centered and data driven. I want to help your child feel confident in their reading and writing abilities and facilitate their love of learning!

I know many families are concerned about the loss of learning due to distance learning, and I want to help alleviate those worries. I've been teaching virtually since Shelter in Place when into place, and I'm confident I can provide a quality learning experience.

I have a masters degree and teaching credential from Stanford university, as well as 2 years of full time teaching experience.  I am currently a 2nd grade teacher in Oakland.

When meeting a new student for the first time, I like to have a conversation with both parent and child about their strengths and challenges as a learner.  I also conduct a running record reading assessment and a spelling inventory, which are the same assessments I use to gather data for students in my classroom.

My rate is $40 an hour, which is reduced given that all sessions will take place virtually and I will not be traveling to students during Shelter in Place.
