About Kim

Kim Welch has been teaching English and ESL at the higher education level since 1998. She serves adult native and non-native English speakers who seek to improve their academic and professional English skills. She currently teaches English writing at the university level. Kim speaks French and Spanish, she is TESOL-certified, and she has an M.A. in Linguistics and a doctorate in Learning Technologies. She makes online tutoring personable with technical skills to make certain the online learning experience is even better than face-to-face tutoring.

Although I like teaching in the classroom, I especially enjoy the depth of learning that can take place in one-on-one tutoring.

I began teaching English as a Second Language to international university students in the U.S.A. in 1998. Since then, I have taught all levels of English in Morocco, China, and several institutions in the United States.

I have over a decade of experience teaching English and ESL at the higher education level. I work best with individuals needing college-level or professional support for English writing, grammar, and speaking. I have a doctorate in learning technologies and an M.A. in Linguistics with a certificate in TESOL.

I like to begin with a needs and goals assessment to see what skills the student would most like to acquire. From this assessment, we begin working on student goals and milestones.

I typically work with adults, but I'm also willing to work with high school students who would like to get into good schools.

It is best to use my expertise if you need high-level English instruction for college or professional reasons. You can pay less for more basic English needs with other qualified tutors.

Although I've taught online in the past, I've recently added Zoom video conferencing to my services. This has helped me to teach in a very personal way while students can learn in the comfort of their own homes.
