About Patricia

I am an experienced teacher of 24 years offering tutoring services in reading, phonics, math, English, language arts, science, social studies and study skills for ages pre-k through 5th grade. I can help students who are behind in grade levels as well as students who want to advance their skills. One of the best ways to ensure success for the next school year is to stay involved in academics consistently during school breaks, especially summer.

I enjoy seeing students succeed and feel more confident about their abilities.

My heart has always been to help children. Even as a teen I loved babysitting and having 3 children of my own (all of whom are now successful academically in college and high school) my desire to help children succeed has been a true passion throughout my life. I became a preschool teacher at the age of 19 and attended college to pursue my career in n education.

I am a certified elementary school teacher with 25 yrs of experience in the education field. I have taught all grades in the elementary setting, tutored for over 15 years and graduated from USF with a degree in elementary education and a minor in early childhood education. I have experience with students with special needs and specific academic needs.

With new students I survey the parents and student with a questionnaire about what areas the student needs help or where the student wants to achieve higher success. I also complete an assessment with the student to get accurate results on where to begin and avoid wasting valuable time.

I have taught and tutored students in a variety of settings such as private schools, Christian schools,  charter, military, preschool, title 1 and public schools.

I have experience with students with special needs, deaf(I am fluent in sign language), add, adhd, sld,  esol, esl, anxiety, speech and more.

It is important to find a tutor that will focus on the specific needs and goals of the student. All students are different and should have an individualized academic plan for success.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What areas am I struggling in? Do I understand  why I am struggling? What techniques have I used in the past to help? What techniques have I used that did not help? What are my goals? How much time am I willing to set aside to attain my goals?
