About Ashia
My love for music and the French horn has been a steady burn and passion of mine since I first heard my brother play it when I was around 6 years old. Since then, music has been at the foundation of my life and has carried me through the ups and downs and the highs and lows.
I'm an alumna of South Effingham High School where I earned the John Philip Sousa Band Award and served as a Drum Major my senior year. I went on to earn a Full Out of State Tuition Waiver to attend Florida State University for Classical Music Performance. From here, I have had the opportunity to gig with the Panama City Pops, Savannah Philharmonic, Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, and many more.
From car karaoke, to music competitions like District Honor Band and All State, I've always worked hard to be the best. I worked so hard to be 1st chair in as many bands and festivals as possible and I strive to push my students to achieve greatness as well. I teach lessons out of the privacy of my own home but would be willing to negotiate another spot if necessary. I look forward to hearing you play!
I began teaching music lessons as early as my senior year in high school. I went on to teach in the very organization that funded my music lessons, SONATA, Inc.
I had private lessons with the following; Eric Overholt, Juilliard graduate and former LA Phil Horn player, Dr. Pamela Titus, Juilliard graduate and UCF Horn Professor, Dr. Jean Martin-Williams, Horn Professor at UGA, Professor Michelle Stebleton, Horn Professor at UGA, and Dr. Stephanie Furry-Mason, Horn Professor at Georgia Southern University.
My awards are as follows; 1st chair District Honor Band 8th-12th grade, 1st chair All State Band 8th and 11th grade, 1st chair All State Orchestra 10th and 12th grade, 2nd chair All State Orchestra 9th grade, 1st chair UGA JanFest Honor Band 11th and 12th grade, Full Out of State Tuition Waiver to Florida State University, and many more!

The first step is to get to know the student and their practice habits, motivations, and future plans. From there, I want to hear where the student is so far in their musical progression and begin to build a solid plan for improvement from there.
I've worked with students of various backgrounds and levels of advancement. It really boils down to getting to know the student and the student trusting the process and working hard to practice on their own time following the lesson to solidify the concepts.
Work hard. Be open to the process. Practice only on days that end in Y. Work hard.
