About Darren
Hello,
My name is Darren Davidson. I am a guitar instructor with 27 years experience. Discussing the students goals, preference of style and experience from the get go allows me to focus on a specific lesson plan to ensure optimal success.
I work closely with all my students through positive reinforcement to build their confidence which is especially important for those in the initial stages.
I teach beginner, intermediate and advanced lessons.
I have taught students from ages 5-75 yrs old.
I teach acoustic, electric guitar, lead, rhythm and theory. Styles include: rock, pop, country, fingerstyle.
Teaching for me was born from a true passion to help others.
To be instrumental in the growth and musical development of a student is very fulfilling to me.
I have studied with some of the best teachers and players and have subsequently taught thousands of lessons to students of all levels and ages ranging from 5-75 yrs old.

My typical process is to get an understanding of what my students goals are, what style of music they would like to play, what their aspirations are. It's all about listening to what each student needs. From there I will develop a lesson plan for success.
As a teacher of 27 years I have taught thousands of lessons to students of all ages and levels and backgrounds.
The advice I would give a student is to make sure the prospective teacher listens and takes into account your goals as a student. I don't believe in generic lessons, everyone is different so make sure that is taken into account before too much time and money is spent.
For me music is my life, writing recording, playing producing videos etc. So if I'm doing any of these I'm happy.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should ask themselves what it is they want to accomplish on their chosen instrument. Is this a hobby? do they want to tour and record? or just play campfire music? They should also have an idea of the style they truly want to play.
Talking to your teacher about these things will lend itself to devicing the most effective lessons plan.

Darren is such a great teacher! He does an excellent job helping you learn what you're keen to become skilled at, and also gives you plenty opportunities to learn many new styles and techniques that help you expand your repertoire. I very much enjoyed my lessons with Darren. :)
I have been taking lessons from Darren for two years now, and feel that my guitar playing ability has improved immensely. He is always willing to tailor his lesson plans to things that I want to learn about, and is able to clearly explain more difficult musical concepts and theory. Darren's lessons allow me to continue to be excited about playing and learning guitar.
