About Jake
As a PhD researcher who has wokred in the fields of Optics, Materials Science, Microluidics, Biotechnology, and Heat transfer, I can provide real world context for many scientific and mathematical concepts.
I enjoy framing scientific topics in a way that gets students excited to learn more! With my background, I can apply the lessons to many real-world scientific problems so that they have a bigger meaning than a chunk of knowledge in a textbook.
I have an undregraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and I am currently working on completing a PhD in Mecahnical Engineering. I haven't recieved any formal training on teaching, but have lots of experinence working with students ranging from second grade to college undergraduates from my work in research laboratories and volunteering.
