About Evanjelin

I am currently a college student majoring in math and computer science. Math is everywhere--from the way flower petals are arranged to the path at which planets orbit--it is the poetry of the universe.

I love math and want to help younger students see how fun it is as well! I have experience tutoring students in calculus and computer engineering courses at my university.

I am currently double majoring in computer science and mathematics and have been a tutor for multiple math and computer engineering courses.

I like to get to know the student and understand what their learning process is like so I can best help them.

I have worked with students who are zealous and independent and I have also worked with students who are more shy and need encouragement to believe in themselves and succeed.

I was recently in a tutoring session for one of my math classes when the tutor asked a student to solve a problem. The student, not knowing the answer, simply responded with "I don't know." In that moment, I was afraid the tutor would continue to ask the student questions in order to have him figure out the answer, but instead, she responded with "that is a perfectly fine answer" and proceeded to explain to us how to solve the problem. It was then that I learned it is okay to not know the answer to something, as long as you are willing to challenge yourself and learn. From a tutor's perspective, I now know not to force any student to prove their knowledge in front of others, but rather give them support and encouragement so they can learn without pressure.
