About Joyce
I've planned to study English and education since my sophomore year, and I've used peer tutoring at my school to begin my journey into learning how to teach other students through community service. Since then, I've participated in a multitude of programs and workshops for leadership and education.
As a senior, my expertise in high school curriculum is extremely useful for understanding what teachers, College Board, and colleges want. I've tutored students before in a multitude of subjects, including history, English, math, and science, and I look forward to continuing to share my experiences, knowledge, and understanding of these topics in a high school lens with other students. In addition to the tutoring services that I'll provide, I have tips for how to survive high school and make the best of the experience to prepare for college application season as well as college itself.

First, I begin by going over what the student's strengths and weaknesses are. By understanding where the student can grow and improve, I'm able to target the areas of a curriculum that we can practice, share tips for memorization/executing problems, and give insight as to how graders view work. Progress isn't always linear, so I focus on truly helping students consolidate both what they're already proficient in and strengthen what they need.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What do you really need from me - not what your parents want, but you yourself? Are you willing to take on the challenge of an extra 30 minutes to an hour outside of school studying and working on bettering yourself in a subject that you struggle in? Are you ready to take on the challenge? Will you be able to take on homework outside of class or would you prefer tutor time to be more intensive for yourself to practice? What standards are you setting for yourself to improve?
