About Valerie
I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher, so going into college I knew that is what I wanted to pursue. While in college I decided on teaching high scool math. After graduating I taught high school math in Wilmington for three years.
AFter that I returned to school to get my Master's in Mathematics from NCSU. After graduating last year in May 2018 I got a job at Vance-Granville Community College teaching math, which is where I am now.
Bachelor's Degree from University of North Carolina Wilmington in Mathematics Education.
Master's degree from North Carolina State University in Matehmatics.
CRLA certified tutor.

Assess their needs and what they hope to gain from the tutoring. Be it gaining skills for a furture course or help with a current course.
The first session is important in determing what kind of learner the student is. Do they like everything written down, do diagrams help them, do they find verbal instruction the most helpful etc.
I have worked with students with learning disabilities that include ADHD, autism and anger management. I have worked with ESL (English Second Language) students. I have taught students of all ages. Although I usually work with students high school and above, I also have experience with children under 10 and love working with them.
I have worked with students of all ability levels. From learning the basics of Algebra to mastering Calculus III.
