About Liz

I am a former Middle School Teacher, Career Counselor, and GED Instructor who has shifted into the field of Admissions and is currently an Assistant Director of Admissions at a nearby university.

While my NC Teaching license has expired, I was licensed in grades 6-9 in Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts. As a teacher, I taught Math primarily with a few language arts elective courses in there.

I am also a Certified Adult Educator in the state of NC specializing in Math Education.

My wife is also a tutor, GED Instructor and a Certified Adult Educator in the state of NC specializing in Math Education.

I went to college to become a teacher and got a job in Charlotte, NC immediately after graduating and began teaching 8th grade math, science, and Algebra.

First, I need to assess where the students skills are at by having a conversation and then completing some practice problems to give me an idea of where to start. From there, I will build a curriculum to accomplish our goal!



Middle school and high school age students, adult students, students with physical, mental, and emotional disabilities; students with profound developmental disabilities, students from diverse economic backgrounds, students from diverse cultural backgrounds (taught at a language immersion school)



Find someone who is willing to listen to your needs and hears you, but also is willing to push you. Dont be afraid to try out a few tutors to find the right person. 



One of my students, a 33 year old single mother of two, has a son who is 16 and was threatening to drop out of high school and was using the defense that 'mom didnt, so why do I have to?'. My student enrolled in class the next day and after two years, she walked across the stage with her son in the audience, just a few days after they celebrated his graduation from high school. She struggled with several subjects and was constantly battling life and work, but she was profoundly dedicated to her education and I am so incredibly proud of her.
