About Maggie
I am a licensed elementary teacher in the state of Indiana. I began painting at the age of 15, and have since continued to develop my passion of artistic expression through this medium. I have experience teaching painting with both children and adults in both private and group settings. I offer step by step instruction, and technique that incorporate the principles and elements of artistic design.
Painting for me, is a passion, where I can get lost in the process and revel in the discovery of creating symbolic meaning of the outside world as I watch it unfold on my canvas. I want to share this experience with others and find great joy in watching my students create their own work and develop their own creative nature.
I received my Teaching degree from Indiana University and I use my knowledge of pedogody to teach painting.
I have my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and have taken coursework through college that pertains to the elements and principals of artistic design. I taught painting instruction for 5 years with a local painting company, where I worked with both children and adults, helping them learn to paint their own individual pieces from start to finish.

When I work with students, I assess their current level of knowledge in regard to painting, their level of experience, and the goals they wish to attain.
I have worked with a variety of learners, both children and adults. I have worked with students who are absolute beginners who may be very timid, as well as those who have had some experience and just want to continue to build upon their current skill level.
Do not be intimidated by your current skill level! Art is a very personal thing, and uniqueness, and risk taking should be celebrated!

Details
I charge $50 a session for private individual classes and $35 for small group instruction. I prefer to keep my class sizes relatively small, 10 students or less, to help provide quality instruction and to better meet the needs of my students.
