Matt is a scholar in music, with extensive knowledge of music theory,
music education, and music history including classical and pop/rock and many other styles. He is skilled at explaining and demonstrating simple and sophisticated music concepts in easy-to-understand layman's terms. I was an older student in my 50's when I took up singing, piano and music theory lessons with Matt. I could not believe my progress and I think that it was due to Matt being such a great teacher! He has such a keen ear that he would notice and politely point out nuances, so that I improved quickly. He was just the best teacher and I'd still be taking from him if I had not moved across the country. I highly recommend him as a teacher. Plus, he has a pleasant, "you-can-do-this" attitude.

"Matthew showed me, with some of his cool compositions, different ways of using notes outside of the basic scale to make music sound unique, yet still powerful and moving." Dan A.
