About Katrina
I have a Master's in pedagogy, the science of learning, and have been teaching students of all ages and skill levels since 2010. I am passionate about helping students develop a healthy technical and expressive foundation for their art. My team offers a wide variety of beginning through advanced level performing arts lessons, with a specialization in adult learning.
I (Katrina) spent ten years at the University of Northern Iowa working to earn my masters in pedagogy, and then teaching students of all ages in groups and one-on-one. I've also taught through several professional companies in Minnesota over the past couple years.
My colleagues come from a variety of professional backgrounds and have spent years making and learning music as well.

One of the first things we work through is discovering the student's learning style and unique interests. These will influence which lesson plans we use moving forward.
It's also important to get the student making music right away so they gain confidence in crafting their sound.
Take advantage of any free sample lessons or ask for a single trial lesson - all teachers have plenty of information to impart, but it's helpful to assess how your personalities work together first if you want to become your very best.

Perfect! My daughter is loving piano lessons thanks to Katrina! She is patient and encouraging with by super shy kiddo and makes learning this new skill manageable and fun.
Perfect! Kat is a superb musician and an amazing voice teacher. As an "older" student with much musical training behind me, in voice as well as piano and other instruments, she has introduced me to concepts I have not been familiar with which have helped me as a singer in many ways. She also has worked with me in terms of the physiology of the the voice and through this has, I believe, opened up my voice in ways I did not expect. I am very excited about my progress with Kat and look forward to the rest of the journey.

Katrina is quite simply an outstanding piano teacher with a Masters degree in Piano Pedagogy. Katrina is always pleasant and extremely knowledgeable about music theory, composers, music teaching methods, and piano playing. She also knows about music periods, styles, baroque, classical, romantic, operatic, modern and contemporary piano music. I was an adult beginner but I know how to read music from a different instrument. Katrina helped me with the proper piano exercises and technique of posture, fingers, chords, scales, gradually improving technique. We worked gradually towards increasing complexity of music yet keeping within my ability. I made good progress while taking lessons from Katrina. I highly recommend Katrina for anyone beginner to advanced.
