Welcome to Sarah's page! :) Total beginners & intermediate level students can come to Sarah to work together in an environment that is fun and supportive! In addition to Sarah’s background as a performer, she has had the opportunity to pass along what she has learned to students of all ages! Sarah is happy to offer both piano lessons as well as voice lessons. Check out additional info below!

Performance experience as a singer and actor at various theaters in NY and across the country

Extensive vocal directing experience with children’s theaters in NY, VT & CA

I started teaching while I was still in college.  I started out by teaching young children at theater camps in California!  Since then, I have worked with children as well as adults of all ages & have taught private lessons as well as being a music director for large groups.  



I grew up in San Jose, CA studying both voice and piano.  With voice, I have had the opportunity to study with both classical voice teachers as well as teachers who've had a focus on theater.  I like to incorporate what I have learned from all of the wonderful mentors I have had in the past.  I earned a BM in voice from Manhattan School of Music & also grew up doing theater at various companies in San Jose, CA.  With piano, I have studied classical piano as well as theater music--I have worked as a music director and accompanist and have played piano for many shows, classes & workshops in NY as well as across the country.

Hello!  Usually what I do to start is set up a time for a first "trial" lesson.  This gives us a session to be able to chat, do some different warmups, exercises, work on some music together & then see how to move forward from there.  



I love working with students of all ages!  I primarily teach beginners as well as some intermediate level students.  



My advice would be to go for it!  Starting lessons can be intimidating if they are new for you.  I always like to be a supportive teacher and remind students that lessons should be fun!  I truly enjoy working with beginners & enjoy bringing music into people's lives.  



I was recently able to coach a friend of mine on their audition materials last minute.  They had a new song to learn in a very short period of time.  We were able to learn the song, make recordings for her as well to practice with (melody alone, melody with piano accompaniment & then accompaniment alone).  By the end of the session, she felt very confident in the materials we'd worked on & we were also able to analyze text and talk about the acting of the piece as well.  



A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I would say think about what style of music you would like to work on & ask the teacher what they specialize in (to make sure that you're both on the same page).
