About Shreshth
I have a Bachelor's degree in English Literature and Philosophy and am currently working on my Master's at the CUNY GC. I've been tutoring students in Math at an in-person tutoring center for 2 years now. While I've enjoyed working with students of all ages, I specialize in students 8th grade onwards and I've helped a lot of students prepare for each of the 3 math regents exams as well as the SAT & ACT.
In my experience students have a very different relationship to math than to other subjects, where explaining the concepts is important, but building confidence and helping students believe that they can do math regardless of their current level is crucial.
Math is a cumulative subject and this leads to unique challenges in understanding the needs of the student. For example, I've commonly seen students who're struggling with Algebra 2, not because of the concepts they're learning this year, but because they never mastered the basics from Algebra 1, especially with all the COVID shakeups. I'm very good at diagnosing where these gaps lie and working with the student not just on keeping pace with their class, but also mastering these fundamentals.
