About Chen Feng
My name is Jackie, and I am an FAA Certified Flight Instructor and commercial pilot based in the Portland and Hillsboro, Oregon area.
I hold Private Pilot, Instrument, Commercial Pilot, and Certified Flight Instructor certificates, with approximately 300 hours of flight experience. My experience includes Cessna 152 and Cessna 172 aircraft, as well as multi-engine training in the Piper Seminole.
At flight school, I helped students from different countries prepare for Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, and Commercial Pilot end-of-course evaluations and checkrides. I conducted individual mock oral sessions, reviewed weak knowledge areas, and facilitated small-group Instrument Rating discussions.
I teach with realistic scenarios based on the current FAA Airman Certification Standards. My goal is to make complicated aviation subjects clear, organized, and easier to apply—not simply memorize.
As a native Mandarin speaker who completed flight training in the United States, I understand the challenges international students may experience with aviation terminology and oral-exam communication. Sessions are available in English, Mandarin, or a combination of both.

My lessons are designed for Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, and Commercial Pilot students preparing for an end-of-course evaluation or FAA checkride.
Each session begins with a short assessment of your training progress, checkride date, aircraft, and areas of concern. I then customize the lesson using the current FAA Airman Certification Standards, FAA handbooks, and applicable regulations.
For mock oral sessions, I use realistic flight scenarios and follow-up questions similar to those you may encounter during an EOC or checkride. Topics may include regulations, airworthiness, weather, airspace, navigation, IFR procedures, aircraft systems, aerodynamics, performance, flight planning, risk management, and emergency operations.
My goal is not simply to help you memorize answers. I want you to understand the material, apply it to real flight situations, and clearly explain your decisions to an evaluator or DPE.
At the end of the session, we will review missed questions, identify weak knowledge areas, and create a focused study plan. Individual sessions and small-group Instrument Rating discussions are available.
Lessons can be conducted in English, Mandarin, or a combination of both.
