About Tonia
I've been an English teacher for about ten years, working in Italy as a specialist for extracurricular projects in private and public schools, as a private teacher and as an in-company teacher. I've been living and working in São Paulo for four and a half years now.

Master's Degree in Letters, CELTA certification, Italian residing in SP for four years, living in USA and UK. I always try to talk to the student first to understand the needs and goals of the student and to have an idea of strengths and weaknesses. Classes are highly customized, but the CELTA didactic approach will be widely used, alternating Language-based (LB) and Skills-based (SB) classes, for students to focus on both grammatical structures and strengthening of fundamental skills, addressed individually and / or in an integrated way. Depending on feedback from the students it would also be interesting to interleave Task-based lessons, to provide the tools and the confidence to fulfill in English tasks of a daily and / or professional nature, pertinent to the studies and needs of each student. Classes (both LB and SB) will, whenever possible, use multimedia material, both "produced" (eg films and serials) and authentic (eg interviews and newscasts). Raymond Murphy's "English Grammar in Use", in the various levels available, will be used as the main grammatical reference for the autonomous study (although some grammatical points will be addressed during the LB classes mentioned above).
