About Layla
I am currently a film student at Brighton Metropolitan College and striving for a career in the industry. I believe that the ability to consume films and critically analyse and understand deeper meanings is essential to loving the art form. This is why I am taking it upon myself to share my knowledge on this skill and give teenagers the key to broadening their horizons.

Hi, I’m Layla! I’m a film student at Brighton Metropolitan College and a passionate cinephile who has watched and analysed over 1000 films from a wide range of genres, countries, and eras. My online lessons help teenagers move beyond simply watching films and start thinking, analysing, and expressing opinions like real film critics.
I teach in a relaxed, creative, and discussion-based way, focusing on story, characters, cinematography, sound, and editing, as well as how to form confident opinions and communicate them clearly through discussion or short reviews. Lessons are interactive and adapted to each student’s interests, whether that’s popular films, classics, or arthouse cinema.
Lessons typically last 60 minutes and are ideal for teenagers who love films, want to improve their critical thinking and creative expression, or are interested in film criticism, filmmaking, or reviewing, all in a supportive online environment
