About Andrew
Hi, I'm Andrew! I'm a final-year Engineering student at City, University of London, where I'm ranked first in my cohort with an 86% average. I scored 96% in my university maths modules, covering calculus, linear algebra and probability, and a perfect 170/170 on GRE Quant. Over the past two years, I've regularly tutored many of my engineering classmates, helping them substantially improve their grades.

Maths wasn't always easy for me. I struggled with it when I was younger, and what changed things was understanding the reasoning behind each method and seeing how it applied to the things I cared about. My grades improved dramatically, and maths became my strongest subject. That experience shapes how I teach, and my lessons are built on two principles.
1. Fix the underlying difficulties first. Most students who struggle have gaps in earlier topics that make everything built on them harder. I identify and fix those gaps first. After that, progress comes through steady, incremental improvement each week, not last-minute cramming.
2. Maths can't be memorised; it has to be understood. Maths appears in almost every field, from sport and gaming to music and money. I teach each topic by applying it to the student's own interests, so they understand why it works and find a reason to care about it. That understanding is what lasts in an exam, when memorised methods fail.
My goal is long-term improvement, not short-term exam cramming. I want each student to become confident and independent enough that they eventually no longer need a tutor. Along the way, we practise real exam questions so the progress shows in their grades.
I teach students of all ages up to A-level, including primary school and 11+ preparation, Key Stage 3 (ages 11 to 14), GCSE (ages 14 to 16) and A-level (ages 16 to 18). Whether a student is struggling with the basics, filling gaps before mocks, or aiming for the top grades, each lesson is tailored to their level. Lessons are a minimum of 60 minutes, can be extended to suit the student's needs, and are available online or in person in London.
