About Claudia
My name is Claudia and I believe that a strong support base is key to achieving whatever grade you want and I will fulfil that role as your supporter and motivator. You may think that achieving a grade 9 (A) is impossible however, nothing is impossible when you put in the time, effort and work. Take me for example, after my Year 11 mocks I was predicted a grade 4 for English literature. However, I loved English and I foresaw myself studying it for A-levels however, according to my Sixth Form, the only way I could study it was to get a grade 8. Upon receiving this information, I thought to myself '' this is ludicrous'! There is no way I can achieve anything above a 4''. However, this all changed when I engaged in a tuition course approximately 2 months before my exam. My tutor was my biggest supporter and she knew I could do it even when I doubted myself. I didn't want to let her down and most importantly, I didn't want to let myself down. Consequently, I studied to the point where I actually enjoyed revision (which was weird, considering how monotonous it truly can be). When I sat my English Literature exams, I thought I had failed as I rushed the paragraphs and believed I failed to grasp the key words in the questions. Results day then came along and as I opened my envelope, I thought I was dreaming... I did it! I achieved a grade 9 in what started off as my weakest subject! 2 years fast forward I achieved a grade A at A-level. This highlights that hard work, with the right support, pays off!

My teaching methodology is highly dependent on studying exam mark schemes and applying the marker's comments to my students' works. When this method is implemented, results are drastically noticeable. Most children are highly focused on learning the content which is typically coupled with the inability to apply their knowledge to the question. When students are highly fixated on learning content as verbatim, they tend to go on a tangent and examiners are more than likely to concur that the student does not understand what they are talking about and as a consequence, results tend to be lower than anticipated. Consequently, my teaching style is highly effective and each session tends to be 1 hour (depending on the student's flexibility). Specifically, my lessons are geared towards those who are studying for their GCSEs and A-levels. *I can also assist in History A-level in terms of helping students structure essays* * Texts I specialise in; GCSE= Macbeth, A Christmas Carol, An Inspector Calls. GCE= A Handmaid's Tale, Frankenstein, Othello, A Streetcar Named Desire*
