About Deana
I love teaching, learning, travelling, storytelling... I am just a curious individual constantly inspired by the world. Anthropologist & filmmaker by day, language tutor by night, I am constantly motivated to learn even more. I have many hours of experience tutoring students in English, French, Spanish and Croatian. I have also taught Croatian at an evening school in Holborn called Cactus Languages. I held English workshops for underrepresented children in Salvador de Bahia, Brasil. In addition, I have also proof-read a lot of university-level essays - details is where the good results lie. All in all, I have experience in teaching a wide range of student ages and teaching remits. I love learning and think that first and foremost, learning should be fun and exciting and I definitely do my best to transmit that in all of my lessons. Everyone who I have taught has been happy with my service and I am still in touch with most of my students.

Hi there :) First of all - I LOVE learning, and I LOVE teaching. I always ensure my classes are fun, because this means you will be able to learn more quickly. I will first need to understand your level of Spanish, and what areas you want to work on (writing, vocabulary, conversational skills, grammar...). We will then delve deeper into the why behind you learning Spanish (is it for your job, or to be able to communicate with the locals on your next trip?). This will help us develop a suitable lesson plan. Most of my lessons are 1h long with a simple methodology: 1) What are we going to learn? 2) Where are we going to use this? 3) Grammar 4) Vocabulary 5) Short Exercises OF COURSE - there is always homework :) D

Deana has been teaching me Portuguese for two years and I’m enjoying every second! I moved to Porto last year and can get by easily — I was above conversational standard thanks to Deana before I arrived and have continued lessons with her since moving to augment the Portuguese that I’m learning in situ! Deana helped me with my French language skills - she was a great and engaging teacher and really tailored the classes so I would find them interesting and helpful! I was a bit reluctant at first as she was a bit more expensive than the other tutors but it was worth every penny!!
