About Alyssa
My name is Alyssa Vital. I’m currently an NMSU student. I’m a sophomore about to be junior. My major is music ed and my primary instrument is flute. The reason I want to be a music ed teacher is to help young flute players get the information I didn’t get at their age. I also love to see how a student can grow from just a little bit of help.

As an upcoming music ed teacher I have given kids lessons based personally on their current level, by adapting to them personally. I have planned lessons that will help improve their musicianship skills. With past new studentsI like to follow a guide. I’ll either have a student record a past solo they played or even just scales. This helps me determine where the students playing level is at. Based on this I will then see if the student knows their scales ( major/ minor),if they know them extended or not,how they are with rhythm, or if they know any solfège.After this we get to start working on finer details.
