About Cecilia
I am a young professional based in NYC hoping to be your French tutor! I started learning French at age 14, and was able to significantly improve my French after living in Paris during undergrad. After graduating, I achieved full fluency while I lived in a tiny town in rural France working as an English teacher.
Besides a passion for French, I love art, movies, music, fashion, running, reading, and hanging out with my friends.
I understand firsthand what it's like to struggle with a language, and that perspective informs the way I teach. If you want someone who knows exactly how to help, choose me as your tutor!

I hold a BA in French from Boston College, where I studied French language, literature, and culture. During my undergraduate studies, I lived and studied in Paris, which allowed me to develop strong fluency and a deep cultural understanding through full immersion.
After graduating, I moved to France and taught for a full academic year at a French high school, where I worked as an English language teacher in a classroom setting. In this role, I supported students with speaking, listening, and comprehension skills. Alongside my teaching position, I also tutored French students one-on-one in English, adapting lessons to each student’s level, learning style, and goals.
Through these experiences, I have worked with middle school and high school students, as well as adults, in both classroom and individual tutoring settings. Having studied and lived in France, I bring strong cultural context to my teaching in addition to language instruction, helping students understand how the language is actually used in everyday life.
My teaching approach is patient, supportive, and conversation-focused, with an emphasis on building confidence and comfort in speaking. I aim to make lessons engaging, low-pressure, and practical rather than purely textbook-based. Whether a student is a beginner, working on fundamentals, or looking to improve conversational fluency, I tailor each session to meet their specific goals.
