About Philip
From appearing on Eastenders to cleaning bar toilets, performing in one thousand seater, 18th century theatres to rolling around on the floor in a crypt in the name of rehearsal - you name it, I've done it, and I firmly believe it is my well-rounded experience of the industry that will give you the best, most realistic results.
Yes, I'm a multi-award-nominated actor who has toured internationally, critically acclaimed theatre shows, worked on the BBC and brought shows to life in the West End but I've also failed in auditions, not got the part, had to plug the gap between performing gigs and make my own work just to stay sane.
No actor works as an actor 100% of the time - this is the harsh reality, but my knowledge of how to keep in the loop, move with the times and graciously accept the "no's" will be the difference between feeling you're invincible and suddenly realising you're not and embracing each of these parts of your career, putting them to good use.
I've tutored young students studying for their Drama A-Levels to education professionals looking for help with confidence, public speaking and presentation skills. Amidst that, I've helped actors with their monologues for Drama School auditions, mid-career actors get their confidence back, and performers looking to create and produce their own work, to name but a few.
I have the advantage of both a Drama and Theatre Studies BA Hons degree from university as well as an MA in Drama from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts behind me, so I'm well aware of the breadth of performance styles and opportunities.
Finally, I can't promise that role or that drama school place, but I can promise you I will work my hardest to make it as possible as it can be for you. We'll make progress together; you'll learn from me, I'll learn from you and it'll all be done with the best humour behind it because, what do we have if we don't have hope?

I've learnt so much throughout my career to date, and I'm here to offer realistic, supportive and considered approaches to help you navigate and flourish in an ever-changing industry.
I'm at home with contemporary pieces as I am with Shakespeare, Marlowe, Wilde or Greek Theatre as well as a wealth of practitioners and how to effectively use their practices.
I firmly believe that a 'one size fits all' approach just doesn't work.
Our lessons will be genuinely personalised to your needs and ability.
We will take the time to marry the material to your style and capabilities.
We'll look at casting and your casting type, and how that feeds into any pieces we are working on.
