From "ciao" to real conversations: Italian lessons with a native-level speaker and linguist

Athanasios is a fantastic teacher and a wonderful pianist who is able to inspire confidence and refinement in his students' playing. He is very knowledgeable about what specific movements make types of sound and is very aware of what the student is doing correctly and incorrectly. He has a wonderful knowledge of the standard and extended piano repertoire, having done a captivating recital on the evolution of piano music for his doctorate degree. I 100% recommend Athanasios as a teacher for a student of any level.

I have known Athanasios for seven years, first as a student and later as a collaborator and colleague. He is exceptionally knowledgeable and has extensive experience teaching piano students of all ages and levels. He is methodical, patient, and highly attentive to each student’s individual needs. I have observed many of his students over the years and have been consistently impressed by their progress, their enjoyment of the piano, and their growing desire to continue making music.

I studied with Athanasios for a year at the University of Maryland, College Park, for my piano performance minor. Athanasios is very passionate about his teaching. He is very dedicated to helping students work through technical challenges and refine the details. Whether it takes five minutes to fix a minor issue or the entire lesson to break down a difficult passage, he brings the same level of patience and focus. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to improve their playing!

I've been taking piano with Athanasios for a couple years and it's been great! He is very patient, helps me find music I'd be interested in, and has a strong focus on technique and music theory. I'm learning how to read music faster and play songs I enjoy!
