About Russell
I am a music education student at the Frost School of Music in Miami, Florida. Originally, I was born and raised in Boston, and I tend to travel between the two cities frequently. I have been lucky to have music as a part of my life, and I work every day to get better at my craft. I've lead various bands, from jazz combos to brass ensembles to funk bands. I've also taught classes in music theory, jazz improvisation, brass techniques, and more. Outside of music, I have a passion for outdoor recreation. Let's connect!

In my lessons, I hope to find the "why" for the student as they pursue music, and use that as a launching point towards a successful journey in learning the instrument. If we know the why, then that will dictate how to approach working on the student's strengths and weaknesses.
A typical lesson will cover these topics:
-Techniques via etudes and exercises
-Historical appreciation/analysis
-Performance and improvisation
-Playing for enjoyment
I have specialty in playing jazz trumpet and piano, as well as a solid foundation in classical trumpet playing. If you are looking to be fluent across multiple instruments, I can be helpful. I can best cater towards beginner and intermediate players.
