About Dr Delora
Hi everyone, I'm Dr. Delora! I love the art of pure mathematics. It's so peaceful to wonder about how things are and could be and then use a pencil and paper to math it out. And as a scientist, I used math to explain the way that my chemistry experiments worked at a very deep level. I'm passionate about meeting students where they are in their mathematical learning journey and supplementing their classwork with applied math enrichment projects. Chemistry is my other joy, and I lecture at CSULB for introduction to general chemistry. Outside of my sciencing, I like to do ballet and improvisational comedy.

Truth and Beauty and Elegance are integral to the art of pure mathematics. Scientists, sometimes, explain the way that the world works using the language and concepts of mathematics. Artists apply mathematical principles to create forms and shapes. Professionals in the workforce use mathematics to execute their plans and get things done.
Typical middle and high school mathematics often leave a gap where students struggle to connect what they are learning in class to something that's real in the world. I help students keep up with their homework and set up enrichment experiences where they can mathematically model using the skills they are practicing in class. My current students projects are in chemistry with acid base chemistry and in budgeting for a car. I'm excited to help your student follow their special interest and mathematize it.
I especially welcome Autistic and ADHD learners. I find that many students are twice exceptional- gifted, but failed by the school system. I'm here to offer individualized support and encourage growth at their paces.
