About Mike
I have worked as a professional educator for 20 years, both in one-on-one lessons at a music school, and in the classroom as an artist-in-residence. I have also been teaching remotely for the past few years.
I perform professionally as a freelance guitarist, and with original projects.
My degree is a B.A. in Music, Classical Guitar Performance.

About the lesson

I try to address the individual needs and interests of each student. Some learn best by tabs and playing popular songs, others by studying theory and reading music notation.
I started out as self-taught, so I get it!
No matter the method, it's important to start simple, and build incrementally.
I like to use the call and response featured in blues music as a jumping off point for the informal learning lessons, and exercises and studies for the more technically-minded students.
I work best with students that are very beginners up to intermediate, starting at around age 12, and college prep.
