About Oscar

I'm a sixth form student studying History, Religious Studies and English Literature at A-level, alongside a History EPQ, and I hope to read History at university. I achieved eight grade 9s and two 8s at GCSE, including a 9 in History with 58/60 on Paper 1.

I have plenty of experience working with young people: over 80 hours volunteering at a youth centre, coaching at a children's tennis camp, and peer mentoring at my school, for which I've completed safeguarding training.

I sat these exams recently, so I know what students are going through and how to make the subject feel manageable. I'm patient, encouraging, and genuinely enjoy helping students reach the grade they're capable of.

I scored 58/60 on Cambridge IGCSE History Paper 1, well above the grade 9 boundary, and achieved one of the highest History marks in my year. I was taught by teachers with deep knowledge of how the exam is marked, and I'll pass on exactly what they taught me.

In the first lesson, I'll work out where your child is losing marks. From there, we focus on exam technique: structuring essays, building strong arguments, analysing sources, and using the language examiners reward. We practise real past paper questions and mark them against the official mark scheme, so students see exactly what a top answer looks like. After each lesson, I'll set a short practice question so your child keeps improving between sessions, and I'll give feedback on it next time.

I'm especially well placed to help Cambridge IGCSE students, but the skills apply to every GCSE History board.
