About Tabitha
I was born and brought up in Africa, living in first Zimbabwe and then Kenya (where I was at prep-school), before relocating to the UK when I was 13 to become a boarder at Marlborough College. I loved both my five years being educated there, and my eight years at prep-school in Kenya before that. At both institutions I was privileged enough to have been taught by some excellent and passionate English and History teachers, who ignited and sustained my love of the subjects, and ensured that I excelled at both. After leaving Marlborough I travelled in India and South East Asia for six months. This, and the culturally wide-ranging nature of my upbringing, means that I am fortunate enough to have seen and experienced more than most people my age, and I hope to bring the excitement and colour of such experiences to my lessons. This international perspective and the intense curiosity of my nature has long cultivated a desire to try out new fields of study, and it was with this desire in mind that I chose to read Classics and Divinity at Edinburgh University following my year of travel and work experience. I adored both, and even the process of study itself. As such, after graduating amidst the turmoil of Covid-19, I decided to do a Masters - again in something refreshingly unfamiliar but related to my love of books and English, (which I had greatly missed at University). I therefore completed a Masters at UCL from 2020 until 2021. Since then I have worked at the Chelsea Magazine Company and taken on various freelance editing jobs, copy editing several novels for prospective publication.

I would predominantly employ a differentiation teaching approach, whereby my methodology would be tailored in order to suit each students abilities, interests and requirements. This would involve different ways of illuminating and enlivening the subject for pupils, such as discussion, verbal presentation, related images, reading and even visuals such as movies or documentaries. Students can then in turn demonstrate their understanding of the subject in equally variegated ways, from essays to oral presentations or illustrations.The length of lessons would stretch from anywhere between half an hour and an hour and a half, depending on demand, and could be adapted to suit those undertaking Common Entrance, GCSE's and anywhere in between.
