About Micah
I graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University with Highest Honors in Field after completing a joint concentration in Folklore and Mythology and the Classics. My studies gave me a lasting passion for storytelling, history, philosophy, different cultures, and literature, as well as a strong foundation in research, critical analysis, and academic writing. I was also awarded the 2020 Classics Departmental Prize.
I went on to receive a Master of Studies with Merit in Classical Archaeology from the University of Oxford. During my master's degree, I continued to develop my expertise in history, research, academic writing, and effective study skills.
Outside of my academic work, I am also a writer. I have placed in multiple screenwriting competitions, and one of my scripts was selected for inclusion in a women's film festival. I have completed continuing education courses in Script Coverage, learning how to critically read and assess scripts and other written material, as well as Introduction to Screenwriting, which focused on the art of creating engaging characters, plots, and worlds beyond the fundamentals of script formatting and structure.
Before focusing more fully on writing and education, I spent five years working in casting for theater, film, and television. This included working on Broadway productions and national tours, as well as participating in the developmental process for new works. This experience gave me a unique perspective on storytelling and the many ways a story can be developed, analyzed, and brought to life.
I have a deep love and passion for learning that I hope to share with the students I work with.

My lessons are designed to help students become more independent and effective learners. I tailor each session to the student's individual needs, whether they are looking for help understanding difficult material, developing stronger academic habits, preparing for an assignment, or building confidence in their own abilities.
ESSAY AND ACADEMIC WRITING
I offer support throughout the entire writing process, from the first moment a student receives an assignment to the completion of a polished final draft. Lessons may include:
• Understanding and breaking down an essay prompt
• Brainstorming and developing ideas
• Reading and analyzing sources
• Identifying relevant evidence and learning how to use it effectively
• Conducting research and evaluating sources
• Developing a clear, focused thesis statement
• Creating an effective outline and logical argument
• Integrating evidence and analysis
• Revising for clarity, structure, argument, and style
• Proofreading and polishing a final draft
My goal is to help my students understand the fundamental building blocks of effective writing so that they can develop the skills to become strong, independent writers and apply those skills to become stronger critical and analytical readers.
CREATIVE WRITING
For creative writing, I work with students to develop both the technical and imaginative aspects of their writing. Depending on the student's goals, lessons may explore:
• Story structure and plot development
• Character development and motivation
• Worldbuilding and setting
• Point of view and narrative voice
• Dialogue and scene construction
• Themes, symbolism, and the ideas a story communicates
• Pacing, tension, and emotional impact
• Creating compelling openings and endings
Creative writing lessons are collaborative and tailored to the student's project, whether they are developing an original story, revising an existing piece, or simply learning how to turn ideas into compelling fiction.
I also believe that some of the best ways to learn about storytelling are through the stories students already love.
Whenever appropriate, I incorporate examples from a student's favorite books, television shows, and films to explore elements such as character development, plot structure, worldbuilding, themes, and narrative voice. By connecting the fundamentals of storytelling to students' own interests, I aim to make lessons more engaging, personalized, and fun while helping them develop a deeper understanding of what makes stories compelling.
HISTORY
I approach history as more than a collection of names, dates, and facts to memorize. I help students understand the larger stories behind historical events: what caused them, how different people experienced them, why they mattered, and how individual events connect to broader historical developments.
Lessons may include:
• Breaking down difficult historical topics and making them easier to understand
• Connecting events through cause and effect
• Building timelines and identifying major patterns
• Developing effective study and memorization strategies
• Preparing for tests and exams
• Reading and analyzing primary and secondary sources
• Developing research skills
• Evaluating historical evidence and different interpretations
• Learning how to construct historical arguments
Whenever possible, I look for engaging and memorable ways to approach the material, using storytelling, connections between events, and discussion to make history feel less like memorizing isolated facts and more like understanding a connected narrative.
STUDY SKILLS AND ACADEMIC SUPPORT
I also help students develop the skills that make success in any subject more manageable. This can include:
• Breaking large assignments into manageable steps
• Planning long-term projects and deadlines
• Organizing notes and course materials
• Developing personalized study strategies
• Preparing for exams
Every lesson is adapted to the individual student. My goal is to meet students where they are and provide them with practical strategies they can continue using long after the lesson ends.
