About Maia
I have a Bachelor's degree in Music (classical performance French Horn) and Education, and I aspire to teach music and sciences at a high-school level. I am living in Sligo until August and would love to work with high-school students to reach their goals towards the end of the academic year.

I have tutored high school science through the New Zealand based company MyTuition for 4 years.
My approach to tutoring is to co-create stories and mnemonics with students to understand and remember course content. This is highly personal to every student and I am very patient and dedicated to finding different ways of explaining concepts until they stick. I also find it very important to check for understanding and application of skills. I incorporate practice tasks regularly throughout tutoring sessions to build proof of capability for the student to increase their confidence.
Typically I would hold lessons of between 45mins to 1.5hrs depending on the amount of content to be covered.
I would like to tutor physics, biology, and chemistry at junior cert and leaving cert level, and music theory and brass instruments to any ages and abilities.
