About Angie
My name is Angela Hernández Blanco, I am 28 years old, and I currently live in the state of Kentucky with my husband. I recently completed my master's degree in Competency-Based Education, where I developed a deep appreciation for teaching. I started giving English lessons to Latino children close my area, and later I began teaching Spanish to American children and some friends. Through this platform, I hope to connect with many more people interested in learning Spanish and share my knowledge in a very pleasant and personalized way.

My approach as a tutor centers around creating a dynamic and student-focused learning environment that is both engaging and effective. I aim to foster not only understanding but also a genuine interest in the subject.

Communicative Approach: This method emphasizes practical usage of the language or subject in real-world situations. I encourage active participation, dialogue, and interaction.
Task-based Learning: I assign tasks or projects that challenge students to apply what they’ve learned in problem-solving contexts, making learning more active and hands-on.
Scaffolded Instruction: I provide structured support that gradually reduces as the student gains independence. This helps in building their confidence and ensuring mastery over time.
Differentiation: I customize lessons to match the student's proficiency level, interests, and goals, offering a personalized experience. This could involve advanced exercises for stronger students or simplified concepts for those who need more foundational understanding.
Formative Feedback: Regular, constructive feedback is an integral part of my teaching. I guide students on how they can improve rather than just pointing out mistakes, helping them grow continuously.
Each lesson is carefully structured to ensure a balance of learning, practice, and reflection:
Introduction and Warm-up (5-10 minutes): We start with a recap of the previous lesson or a short, engaging activity to prepare for the new content.
Presentation of New Material (15-20 minutes): I introduce new concepts or skills using clear explanations, examples, and multimedia resources (videos, articles, interactive tools, etc.).
Practice and Application (20-30 minutes): Students engage in exercises or tasks based on the material presented. This can be through problem-solving, dialogue practice, or other hands-on activities. I facilitate and provide support as needed.
Review and Feedback (5-10 minutes): We review the key points learned and I provide immediate feedback on their performance. We discuss areas of improvement and set goals for the next session.
Homework/Extension Task (Optional): I assign additional practice or project work if it aligns with the student's objectives, helping them deepen their understanding.
As a Tutor
I believe that no two students learn the same way. I tailor my teaching style to fit each student’s unique needs, be it through varied resources, pace adjustment, or focus on specific areas.
