When I teach people I help them realize the answer by pointing them in the right direction instead of just giving them the answer like so many teachers or tutors. I don't tell people "do this, then, this and you get this." I help them start the equation then give them the "what do you think the next step is, we used this in a previous problem, you might need to think about doing this." I try to encourage critical thinking rather than spelling anything out.
