About Sachi

I have been a tutor in the past with multiple students and while working on my own studies. I have also tutored high school students in math and SAT prep. I understand people have different approaches to their work and try to tailor my help based on that.

As a tutor, my approach is focused on fostering a deep understanding of the material, enhancing critical thinking skills, and promoting long-term academic success. I tailor my teaching techniques to the individual needs of each student, especially for high school students preparing for college. Here’s a breakdown of my approach:

Teaching Method and Techniques
Personalized Learning: Every student learns differently. I adapt my methods based on their strengths, weaknesses, and preferred learning style. This includes offering visual aids, real-life examples, interactive exercises, or breaking down complex concepts into smaller, manageable parts.
Test Prep Strategy: For students preparing for college, I provide focused test prep for standardized tests (like the SAT or ACT) by teaching strategies for time management, analyzing practice tests, and covering test-specific content.
Typical Lesson Plan
Warm-Up (5-10 minutes):
We begin by reviewing material from previous lessons and clarifying any misunderstandings. This could involve discussing homework, answering questions, or reviewing key concepts.
Guided Practice (15-20 minutes):
Students work through problems or questions with my guidance. I ask probing questions to help them think critically, providing hints or alternative methods when needed. This part helps reinforce the material.
Independent Practice (10-15 minutes):
After some guided practice, I give students independent exercises to test their understanding. During this time, I observe their approach to identify any areas of confusion that we need to revisit.
Wrap-Up and Reflection (5-10 minutes):
We review the main points of the lesson. I ask students to reflect on what they learned and how they can apply it in different contexts. We might also go over any upcoming assignments or test preparation strategies.
Homework or Follow-up:
I assign homework based on the day’s lesson and provide extra resources for review or practice if necessary.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
Empathy and Communication: I understand the pressures students face, especially when preparing for college, and I offer emotional support alongside academic help. I work to build a strong, trusting relationship where students feel comfortable expressing their challenges.
Encouragement of Student Voice: I always encourage students to ask questions, offer input, and express their thoughts. I believe that a two-way dialogue is key to learning and that students who actively participate in their learning process are better prepared for the challenges ahead.

In summary, my approach is centered around personalized learning, interactive problem-solving, and long-term growth. I focus on equipping students not just for exams but for success in college and beyond, with the goal of helping them become independent thinkers, confident learners, and well-rounded individuals.
