About Mary Grace

Kumusta! I'm a 4th-year college student pursuing a Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education, majoring in Electronics Technology. While my degree is technical, my training is rooted in education, I've studied lesson planning, classroom management, and teaching strategies that I now apply to every Tagalog lesson I give.
As a native Filipino, I don't just speak Tagalog, I live it. I can guarantee authentic, everyday language that textbooks simply can't offer. But fluency alone isn't enough to be a great tutor. That's why I bring patience, structure, and professionalism to every class.
You can expect:

Punctuality and preparedness — lessons are planned ahead, and I show up on time

Clear communication — I explain concepts simply and check for understanding

A safe learning space — mistakes are welcome here; they're how we grow

Respect for your goals — your reasons for learning matter, and I'll tailor lessons to fit them

I may still be a student, but I take teaching seriously. My background in education, my native fluency, and my genuine love for sharing Filipino culture make me a tutor you can trust. Let's learn Tagalog together, I'll be with you every step of the way.

My Teaching Method and Techniques

I teach Tagalog the way it's actually spoken, naturally and conversationally. My method combines immersion and structured practice. I encourage students to speak from day one, even imperfectly, because confidence grows through use. I use conversational practice, chunking (breaking phrases into small parts), context-based learning, and cultural integration, so you understand not just the words, but the meaning behind them. I also correct mistakes gently and immediately, so bad habits don't form.
A Typical Lesson Plan (45–60 minutes)

Kumustahan : A friendly Tagalog check-in to warm up

Vocabulary Build : New words for the day's theme

Sentence Practice : We build sentences together

Real Conversation : You apply everything in a guided role-play

Review & Preview: We recap and preview the next lesson

I'm a future professional teacher. My degree has equipped me with real teaching strategies and the ability to handle different learning styles. I bring energy and warmth to every class, so students feel like they're talking to a friend, not sitting in a lecture. As a native Filipino, I also teach the slang and expressions textbooks often miss.

Who My Lessons Are For

My classes are open to all levels; beginners to intermediate. They're especially suited for adults wanting to speak with Filipino partners or in-laws, kids and teens reconnecting with their heritage, professionals working with Filipinos, and travelers or expats preparing for the Philippines.
