About Wes
I hold a Bachelor’s in Guitar Performance and Contemporary Music Studies and have 9 years of experience teaching guitar to diverse learners. My teaching combines technical training, music theory, improvisation, and performance preparation. I focus on nurturing both technical proficiency and artistic expression, allowing students to build confidence and a personal musical voice. I provide personalized guidance to each student, adjusting exercises, repertoire, and learning pace to individual needs. My approach emphasizes patience, encouragement, and structured feedback, ensuring steady progress while keeping lessons engaging and enjoyable. I work closely with students to develop both skill and musical identity. Outside teaching, I remain active in performance, composition, and contemporary music exploration, bringing real-world insights into lessons. I find deep satisfaction in helping students grow technically and creatively, developing the confidence to express themselves musically and perform with assurance.

My guitar lessons focus on developing technique, musical interpretation, and confidence in performance. Lessons cover fingerstyle technique, chord progressions, scales, soloing, improvisation, strumming patterns, tone shaping, and expressive phrasing. I incorporate exercises, repertoire practice, improvisation challenges, and simulated performance scenarios to provide a comprehensive learning experience. Each session is designed to balance technical rigor with creative freedom, encouraging learners to explore their own musical voice.
Beginners are guided through foundational skills, including basic chords, finger placement, rhythm, and reading tablature or notation. Intermediate learners work on advanced chords, melodic phrasing, improvisation, and complex rhythm patterns. Advanced learners focus on soloing techniques, performance preparation, stylistic interpretation, and musical expression. I ensure each lesson adapts to the student’s goals while fostering creativity and motivation.
Guitar lessons strengthen technical skill, musical understanding, and self-confidence. My goal is to help learners enjoy music while developing competence and expressive ability. Lessons create a supportive environment where students grow, experiment, and gain the tools to perform confidently and creatively.
