About Natalie
I hold a B.Mus in Performance and a Diploma in Contemporary Guitar Studies, with 8 years of experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels. My expertise encompasses guitar technique, music theory, sight-reading, improvisation, ensemble work, performance preparation, and stylistic versatility. I design lessons combining structured technical exercises, creative exploration, and performance strategies to nurture both skill and artistry. I emphasize individualized instruction, encouragement, and patience, adapting teaching methods to each student’s abilities and goals. Lessons include scales, chords, improvisation, repertoire study, sight-reading, and ensemble practice to cultivate well-rounded musicianship. Outside teaching, I perform regularly, study diverse genres, and keep up with modern pedagogical approaches. I mentor students for recitals, recordings, collaborations, and live performances, emphasizing both precision and expressive interpretation. Witnessing learners develop confidence, technical mastery, and personal style is profoundly rewarding. I focus on fingerstyle, chord progressions, scales, improvisation, soloing, rhythm, sight-reading, and repertoire building. Lessons combine systematic exercises with creative exploration, allowing learners to experiment with phrasing, dynamics, style, and personal interpretation. The learning environment is supportive, encouraging students to overcome challenges, embrace their mistakes as opportunities, and gain confidence in both practice and performance.
Lessons are tailored according to the student’s skill level. Beginners work on posture, basic chords, simple scales, and easy songs to establish a strong foundation. Intermediate learners refine techniques, expand repertoire, learn improvisation, and develop timing and musical interpretation. Advanced learners focus on performance preparation, advanced improvisation, stylistic versatility, composition, and ensemble collaboration.
