About Tara
I have been teaching guitar for nine years, driven by a passion for music and a dedication to fostering student growth. I work with learners of all ages and skill levels, creating lessons that are structured, engaging, and tailored to individual goals. Teaching allows me to combine technical instruction with creative guidance, supporting students in developing skill, confidence, and musical identity. I emphasise structured practice, improvisation, and expressive projects. Lessons focus on fingerstyle, chords, rhythm, and interpretation while encouraging individuality, creativity, and self-expression. I create an environment where students are motivated to explore and expand their abilities while achieving steady progress. Outside teaching, I perform, compose, and explore different musical genres to continuously expand my perspective. Watching students grow from beginners to expressive, confident musicians capable of performing, composing, and interpreting music is deeply fulfilling. Helping learners develop technical mastery, artistry, and a lifelong connection to guitar remains the foundation of my teaching philosophy.

My guitar lessons focus on combining technical mastery with creative exploration, providing students with the skills and confidence to perform and express themselves musically. Each lesson integrates exercises in fingerstyle, chords, scales, rhythm, and repertoire study while encouraging improvisation and stylistic experimentation. I aim to create a positive and supportive learning environment that fosters motivation, discipline, and curiosity, enabling learners to engage actively and meaningfully with the instrument. Beginners learn basic chords, strumming patterns, finger placement, and simple melodies. Intermediate students focus on barre chords, improvisation, technique development, and expanding their repertoire. Advanced learners refine soloing, composition, performance techniques, and expressive interpretation. Assignments include technical exercises, listening tasks, repertoire practice, and optional recordings to track progress. Lessons are personalised to each student’s abilities, goals, and musical interests, ensuring steady growth and sustained engagement. Students gain more than technical skill; they develop artistic expression, self-confidence, and stage presence. Many perform in recitals, collaborate with peers, compose original music, or pursue independent projects. Guitar study enhances focus, discipline, creativity, and resilience, providing benefits that extend beyond music. My goal is to help learners cultivate both mastery and artistry, empowering them to explore their unique musical voice and share it confidently with others.
