About Antonio

I am a music composer and performer, I studied 8 years Classic Guitar in Italy (conservatory), then 6-7 years of Jazz theory, and achieved grade 8 ABRSM music theory in the UK. I attended masterclasses by Michel Camillo, Stefano Bollani, Hernacio Hernandez, Berklee summer courses and taught guitar in Italy since I was 16. Having a background in Cinema I also compose for indie films. I produced my first album in Italy in 2003 (Aiguille, Portrait) distributing 20k copies then I have been the co-creator of the Band "Flying Tailor", and now teaching in London part time, in a few different schools and working on the band project. REEL: (concealed information)

About the lesson

Coming from the Italian-Spanish classical music background, I will begin with teaching proper finger-style (classic position) and pickup style in order to be then versatile on any kind of guitar. I use an exercise book which covers every technique (Rest-stroke, arpeggios, legatos, triads, etc), which also helps basic reading knowledge. Theory wise, I can then adapt the programme to what the student requires, going towards jazz (modal music, keyboard visualisation, ear training, improvisation) or we can proceed towards a more classical programme (scales, arpeggios and music reading/writing). We can discuss about composition, working with other instruments, guitar duets, music production, electronic music, studio recording, etc. If the student wants to learn just pop/rock guitar, we can go straight to learning chords (basic voicing to more interesting ones) and performing popular tunes with the right hands/body position.

Perfect! I am very pleased with Antonio's teaching. He has encouraged and motivated me to continue learning more about jazz guitar. I would highly recommend anyone pursuing the art of guitar (even outside of jazz) to learn from him.

Antonio's response
Will has a remarkable aptitude for music and for the instrument. He diligently works to bridge any knowledge gaps, and I have no doubt he will achieve all the goals he sets for himself.

Excellent! I had one lesson with Antonio and it was very enjoyable. He is a very professional and friendly tutor, super passionate about teaching, very patient and encouraging. The teaching content is well structured. The only thing I can recommend Antonio to improve maybe is the studio environment - it's a bit smelly and unpleasant when I visited. Perhaps better ventilation could help.

Antonio's response
She is an experienced Chinese Pipa player and possesses a professional attitude towards music, so, approaching an entirely new musical system and a similar yet different instrument - the guitar - she demonstrates a mature evaluation of the amount of work necessary to achieve her artistic vision.

Perfect! Antonio is an amazing teacher and an incredibly talented musician. He was amazing with my 14 year old daughter - really teaching her to love music and learn to play properly (as she is self-taught). We feel so lucky to be learning from him! Most highly recommend him for students of any level!

Perfect! Great at tailoring his lessons to your needs and very good at understanding what you are interested in even if you don't have the right musical vocabulary to describe it.

Antonio's response
Josh has extended knowledge on many aspects of guitar, and he wants to explore more techniques or go deeper on the basics and he is ready to step out of his comfort zone to do it. He's precise and has initiative, which makes tutoring much more effective.

Antonio's response
Sonny has a strong will and he plays very well for being a self-taught student. He will surely refine his technique to perfection in a few weeks and explore the full potential he has.

I've known and have been working with Antonio for several years now. Music was his first love, and he never let go of it since tender age. Over the years, alongside developing guitar skills and passion for music on broader scale, he matured a keen interest in education which led him to teach at prestigious institutions with great success. With Antonio as teacher, you're securing someone able to identify your musical needs, develop a personalised way to improve your skills, and a great pal to share freely your love for music.

Antonio is an incredibly versatile guitar and music tutor. His knowledge of music is expansive, ranging from classical to jazz to rock, as well as composition and improv. He's an excellent teacher, who shows great care for his students, and is very adaptable in his teaching methods depending on the needs/abilities of the students. His calm and chilled out manner are also very conducive to learning. He's an excellent teacher (and musician!) overall and I highly recommend him.
