Hi! My name is Angela. I am Chinese and Pākehā and was raised by both my Chinese māmā, and my sisters pāpā and stepmum, both of whom are Māori.
I am a student, in my 3rd year, studying towards my Bachelor of Arts in Te Reo Māori and Education with the goal of working as a Te Reo Māori secondary teacher.
Alongside my studies I am working as a reliever at Kōhanga Reo, where I speak te reo Māori with tamariki aged 0 to 5.

Firstly, I would get to know your goals, needs, how you like to learn, and your current Te Reo Māori and Tikanga knowledge.
From there, I will tailor a lesson plan to suit you with lessons running between 45 minutes to an hour.
My dialectal knowledge comprises both the Ngati Porou rohe (as spoken at Kōhanga Reo) and general reo Māori (as learnt through my studies).
I am here to provide a warm and engaging environment to help you improve your everyday conversational Māori, build confidence when speaking and writing, understanding of tikanga, and the Māori worldview.
As we work together we can adjust and refine what areas you would like to focus on.
