About Sarah
I am currently In college now, but I have taken several English courses and received a 4.0 GPA in those classes. I have also take IB and honors classes in High school, and peer mentored other students at my High school. I've helped people with special needs with there academics at my high school
I have also had a poem published in a book for a writing contest and have won multiple contests besides that.
I will make sure you receive the best quality help possible, and will tailor my tutoring to your individual needs and learning styles. I don't believe in a one size fits all approach to tutoring. I think everyone has a different way of learning, and I will always respect that.

My lessons would focus on college level literature courses. Whether its just a basic English course or a creative writing or poetry class. If I were to create a lesson plan, here's the steps I would follow:
1) I would ask the student what is there preferred learning style as well as any other issues or obstacles they have when it comes to English classes. An example would be someone with a learning disability, or English Language learner, etc. I take this information into account when teaching
2) Discuss with student there needs and what type of writing assignment we would be tackling
2) Depending on the type of writing assignment, I may find helpful articles and examples online for the student to get an idea of what a high level of writing looks like based on the assignment
3) I would also show videos as well if needed or other graphics
4) I would find a format to show the student based on what type of assignment there doing. If it's an essay I would give them a basic essay template outline that they can fill in as we move through how to structure their assignment step by step. I would show them the basics of what makes a good essay, etc
5) Lastly I might ask them to practice certain exercises that they can do to improve there writing skills. We would also discuss what they should be working on before our next session together so they stay up to speed on the assignment. We can set a timeline for certain things to be done so they don't fall behind. I could create a survey so I'm checking in with them daily on the progress there making in the assignment and any other questions they may have
What sets me apart from other tutors is that I genuinely care about the person I'm helping and not just making a pay check. I will sit with you for as long as it takes until I can help the student succeed. I also pay attention to different learning styles, and try to incorporate a little of each learning style into my teaching. I'm patient and I'm accepting of all levels and abilities. Any student that comes to me will not be judged. I'm not here to judge a students intelligence, I'm here to help them.
If they need additional help outside our scheduled appointment time I would be happy to answer questions through a phone call, email or text. And pricing will be a lot more affordable then your average tutor.
