About Vasudha

I'm Vasudha, originally from India and now based in the UK, where I have been living for the past four years. Growing up in India, Hindi was not just a language for me — it was what carried my everyday life, my relationships, my culture, and my education, right through to board level examinations.

Moving to the UK gave me a new perspective on just how precious that connection to language really is. I've seen firsthand how quickly that thread can feel distant when you're living far from home — and equally, how powerful it feels when someone helps you hold onto it.

That's what drives me to teach. Whether it's a child of the Indian diaspora who hears Hindi at home but can't quite read or write it, a curious learner drawn to Indian culture and Bollywood, or a professional preparing for a trip to India, I want every student to feel that same joy and belonging that language can bring.

Alongside my love of Hindi, I hold a Master's degree in Social Policy from the London School of Economics and a BA in Sociology from the University of Nottingham — both of which have shaped the way I think about people, communication, and learning.

Namaste! I'm Vasudha, a native Hindi speaker with a passion for helping students connect with one of the world's most beautiful and widely spoken languages. Whether you're an absolute beginner, a heritage speaker wanting to reconnect with your roots, or someone preparing for a formal examination, I tailor every lesson to your personal goals and learning style.

My teaching methodology:
I believe language learning works best when it feels natural and enjoyable. My lessons blend structured grammar and vocabulary with real conversation, so you're not just memorising rules — you're actually using the language from day one. I draw on my academic background in sociology and social policy to make cultural context a core part of every lesson. Understanding why Hindi is spoken the way it is — its regional variations, its literature, its everyday expressions — makes the language come alive in a way that textbooks alone never can.

For students working towards formal goals, I bring a rigorous, exam-focused approach rooted in my own experience studying Hindi to board level in India, where Hindi is taught as a serious academic discipline.

Lesson structure:
A typical lesson runs 60 minutes and is divided between focused skill-building (reading, writing, grammar, or pronunciation) and free conversation practice. I always close each session with a short review and clear goals for the next lesson, so you always know exactly where you stand and what comes next.

Who I teach:
My lessons are open to all ages and all levels — from complete beginners picking up the alphabet for the first time, to intermediate learners wanting to polish their fluency, to advanced students tackling formal written Hindi. I particularly enjoy working with:
>Heritage speakers of Indian origin who grew up hearing Hindi at home but never formally learned to read or write it
>Professionals and travellers wanting practical, conversational Hindi
>Students preparing for Hindi GCSE, A-Level, or Indian board examinations

My background:
I hold a Master's degree in Social Policy from the London School of Economics and a BA in Sociology from the University of Nottingham. My academic training has made me a precise, analytical thinker — and those same skills make me a patient, methodical tutor who can break down complex concepts clearly and accessibly.

I'd love to help you on your Hindi journey. Book a trial lesson and let's get started!
