About Keeron
I worked within the Humanities Department enhancing student learning progress. This involved teaching GCSE History to a wide range of students with differing needs and abilities. Preparing and working through Schemes of Work and following Edexcel guidelines. Leading groups of students through mentoring and supporting them in class to enhance understanding of themes and ideas. Working on writing skills and promoting good grammar. I was also a class tutor responsible for a cohort of students – class sizes were around 27. Working to extremely high standards and part of a team which was rated good by Ofsted. I also taught A Level cohort preparing them for their final exams. I have a wide range of teaching experience and methods. I also worked with smaller groups – often one to one or in smaller groups to prepare students for their final exams. I have worked as a personal tutor in the past and have helped many students acquire their necessary grades to progress to Further Education.

I love History and since I graduated have worked hard to promote History. The study of History can be complex and overwhelming for many people. My approach is to make it relevant to current events when required, yet make interesting for the student in terms that help them understand and hopefully give them the ability to conceive and develop their own ideas. History is always open to interpretation and evidence is always key. What also excites me is allowing students to have an opinion. I am also aware that exams need to be passed and often this requires attention to key phrases and words. It is not always how much you write, but what you write.
I work in a very friendly and hopefully engaging way. I help explain questions which can often be a students biggest feat. 'What do they mean?' Explain, describe, compare'. These are often the terms that worry students the most. I can teach in groups or on a one to one basis. I have a friendly, professional approach and while I can help you through the haze of often a difficult subject, can make it plain and very achievable. Power point presentation are useful, but I use only as reference. I am very used to preparing lesson plans, but often in smaller groups discussion and a focus on inference is required and preferred.
