About Sofia
Ciao, mi chiamo Sofia! I was born and raised in Italy and I studied there until middle school. Today I am a Physics student at the University of Manchester here in England! I tutor 1-to-1 or small groups, both in person and online, helping students prepare their own exams or simply to develop their fluency. I have worked with both primary and secondary school students. Often I work with bilingual young people who want to keep their family's legacy alive and be able to speak to their grandma! Learning from a native speaker makes a difference, it exposes you to a more complete understanding of the language and culture, including idioms, natural sentence syntax (the most natural way to speak) and lesser-known vocabulary.

Languages are like puzzles, you need the first basic pieces to get you started. It is important to have a good vocabulary and grammar foundation to build on. For beginners, this is something I work on or consolidate. Learning difficult spellings from the beginning will also avoid easily avoidable mistakes later on and boost your confidence. Our lessons will also be perfect to prepare a GCSE exam! Language GCSEs are not about perfection, they are about perfecting and using the skills you already have which I can support you on.

Her knowledge of physics is shown every single day to me, and her intelligence comes through in everything she does, from the way she organises her work meticulously to the way she speaks.
