About Bill
I am a jazz guitarist and I can provide lessons for acoustic and electric guitar from beginners to advanced level players. I’m currently studying music majoring in Jazz Performance at the University of Auckland. I have more than 4 years of experience performing as a soloist or in a band. I'm offering lessons to all levels with various styles, including guitar technique development, song learning, songwriting, guitar arrangement, and improvisation, mostly in Jazz, Pop, Blues, Funk, R&B, Neo-Soul, Fusion, and Rock. I can also offer music theory lessons up to ABRSM Grade 5. I have more than 6 years of experience in Classical piano learning, so I'm confident in teaching in sheet music form. I also have more than 3 years of experience in Jazz learning, so I can offer jazz theory too. • Silver Award in 2021 Auckland Jazz and Blues Competition (as the guitarist in the band) • Commended Award in KBB Music Festival 2021 (as the guitarist in the band) • Bronze Award in KBB Music Festival 2022 (as the band leader and lead guitarist) • Music Prefect in 2022 of Mount Albert Grammar School • Jazz Band Leader in 2022 of Mount Albert Grammar School • NCEA Level 3 Excellence Endorsement with Music • Grade Ten of Chinese Musicians’ Association in Piano And I have performed in the following venues: Auckland Jazz & Blues Club, Anthology Lounge, Holy Trinity Cathedral, Saint Mary’s Church, Studio The Venue, Galatos, JZ Club Shanghai & more:))

I started playing instruments when I was a teenager. I know what’s difficult and what’s challenging for beginners. I also have experience in learning other instruments such as piano and bass to assist my teaching. I can offer lessons in English and Chinese.
