About Ivy
My guitar teaching approach is structured, practical, and tailored to each student’s goals. I focus on building strong ergonomic technique to ensure comfortable, efficient playing and prevent strain. Lessons cover open chords, power chords, and exercises to improve finger dexterity and control across the fretboard. I introduce theory in simple steps, including Roman Numeral Chord Nomenclature, to help students understand progressions and create music confidently. Ear training is an important part of every session, developing the ability to recognize intervals, chords, and melodies by ear. I use real songs and repertoire to make learning engaging, combining rhythm, harmony, and expression. For those passionate about fingerstyle or worship music, I provide guidance to excel in their style while strengthening technique and musicality. Each lesson is personalized and paced according to the student’s learning style. I focus on clear explanations, consistent practice routines, and actionable feedback to help students improve steadily. Creativity and expression are encouraged alongside technical mastery. I aim to make learning enjoyable, productive, and inspiring. Together, we develop skills, confidence, and a deeper connection to music. I am a passionate guitar educator with 4 years of experience, specializing in preparing students for competitive music exams, scholarships, and auditions. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Guitar and have successfully guided students into prestigious music schools and conservatories. My teaching emphasizes structured lesson plans, discipline, and consistent progress, tailored to each student’s individual goals.
I focus on developing strong technique, musicality, and theoretical understanding to ensure students are fully prepared for any performance or examination setting.
