About Robin
I am a Jazz trumpet player based in Birmingham, I am classically trained, however, my expertise are in jazz and improvising. I have taught a variety of students from basic early learning to more high level and advanced grades, and all ages from key stage 1 to adults. I am proficient in teaching music theory, trumpet technique and improvisations as well as playing over a multitude of different music styles.

I base my teaching on the needs of the pupil. Not one method fits everyone, therefore, all I ask is that my pupil is open to trying ideas to find their ideal pathway. In my lessons, I always focus on a strong base of technique and proficiency on the instrument and carry this through lessons while we work on other things be it graded exams, repertoire or improvising.

Perfect! Robin is extremely proficient and knowledgeable. His instrument playing skills are superb and his grasp of music theory is remarkable. He has a good understanding of a wide range of music genres and can easily adapt to your expectations and music taste. He has been able to help me play some of my favourite genres within only 2 months. He is also very friendly, encouraging and always reliable.
